Francisco Calvelo Moreira is a Spanish filmmaker born in Almeria.

He is self-taught as a visual author and one of the principal impellers of the experimental and fantastic cinema at present of Galicia. He is a charter member of Black Maria Producciones and of the Marienbad Festival of fantastic shorts films.

His short film Chrysalis was selected in the Sitges's International Cinema Festival' in 2006, inside the section Brigadoom and in the Weekend of Horror Festival organized by the magazine Fangoria, turned out to be a winner of the contest "Vente a Salamanca 2007". In 2007 he concluded Go'El, a short film from a script by Jose Antonio Ramos that features the popular Galician television actor Santiago Romay. Also in 2007, he collaborated on the full-length film Going nuts, directed by Juanjo Ramirez and produced by Manuel Cristóbal. As of late 2007, he is in full preproduction of Santiago de Sangre, a short film set in the streets of Santiago de Compostela and inspired by the drawings of the Japanese illustrator Suehiro Maruo. It is a joint production of Perro Verde Films and Black Maria Producciones and will be filmed at the end of 2007.
